Job Summary
Maintenance Technician I at Nordstrom Tacoma Mall performs preventive maintenance and on-demand repairs across store facilities, including building envelopes and systems such as plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and lighting. The role supports multiple Nordstrom stores/rack locations within a business node, conducts routine inspections and rounds, assists with troubleshooting and basic repairs, maintains maintenance records, follows safety and health rules including LOTO and PPE, and prioritizes tasks with attention to detail. Requires a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience or training, basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating/cooling, and proficiency with work order systems and computer programs (Outlook, Excel). Must be flexible to work various shifts and capable of lifting 50 lbs or more. Strong communication, safety awareness, and customer-service orientation are essential.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of one year of related experience and/or training
- Basic working knowledge in carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, roofing, heating, and cooling
- Ability to understand and follow directions and written/verbal guidelines
- Proficiency with PC/Laptop and basic software (work order systems, Outlook, Excel)
- Ability to lift/carry heavy loads (50 lbs or more)
- Flexibility to work days, evenings, weekends, and off-hours as needed
- Ability to read and interpret manuals, circuit diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
- Strong communication skills and customer service orientation
- Detail-oriented with accuracy in inspections and records
