Job Summary
General Maintenance Technician I responsibilities include assisting in evaluating, repairing and performing minor plumbing, electrical and HVAC systems; handling plumbing fixtures, electrical components, and lighting; completing work orders; maintaining safety with lockout/tagout and PPE; coordinating with maintenance supervisor for outside help; performing carpentry and painting; supporting the preventive maintenance program; and being available for on-call, evenings, and weekends. Requires the ability to work with tools, read and follow instructions, and interact professionally with employees and clients; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work in environments with potential hazards. Education required is a high school diploma or equivalent, plus a certificate or related experience. Skills include HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, lighting and electrical repair, and safety compliance.
Required Qualifications
- High school or equivalent
- One-year certificate from college or technical school, or one year related experience and/or training
- Minimum one year of experience in a maintenance role
- HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, lighting and electrical repair skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as assigned
- Lockout/tagout and PPE familiarity
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Willingness to escort contractors, vendors or inspectors
- Maintain and use company vehicle and related records
