Job Summary
Receive daily work assignments from the Director of Engineer and review priorities for special projects. Organize materials, tools, and equipment to perform tasks including installing and repairing vinyl and wallpaper, stripping and refishing guest room furniture, and completing room preventative maintenance. Make rounds checking problem areas, noting touch-up needs or safety concerns, and coordinate schedules with the Executive Housekeeper and Front Office Manager. Respond to guest maintenance and service requests in a timely manner while ensuring the security of assigned keys and beepers. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, handle chemicals per OSHA requirements, and complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving. Work flexible shifts based on business needs, adhering to hotel policies and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Required certificate from college or technical school in facilities, maintenance or engineering or a combination of experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience in maintenance, facilities or engineering
- Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs
- Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to hear, understand and communicate orally and in writing to communicate with staff, vendors, and guests a normal in-person and phone conversation
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend and twist, push and pull, stoop, and kneel
- Must be able to prioritize and work efficiently with limited supervision
- Must be detail oriented and able to multi-task efficiently
- Must be able to speak and understand and communicate the primary language(s) used in the workplace
- Requires effective communication skills
- Must have the ability to bend, squat and lift up to 100 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill painting and engineering tasks
- Safety requirements of PPE as needed for duty assigned and with use of required tools and equipment
- Must maintain complete knowledge and comply with all hotel and departmental policies and procedures
- Ability to push, pull, grasp, lift or carry supplies, equipment or tools weighing up to 100 lbs. occasionally
