Job Summary
Operate various tools and equipment safely, identify and report broken equipment or uncertain conditions, and perform preventative maintenance on machinery and building grounds. Establish effective working relationships with team members across departments while maintaining a positive customer service attitude during interactions with staff and residents. Keep work areas and equipment clean and safe in compliance with regulations, and read documents including safety rules and procedure manuals to handle problems involving multiple variables. Perform general maintenance and repair duties for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, and appliance systems, including drywall repairs and painting. Stand for long periods and occasionally lift up to 25 pounds while communicating effectively with others.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or some college credits from a technical school
- one or more years of related experience and/or training
- equivalent combination of education and experience
- Proficient in all aspects of apartment maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, structural, and appliance repair
- experience with drywall repairs and painting
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondences
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Teamwork with the ability to work within different departments and with other staff
- This position requires the ability to work different shifts, including weekends, holidays, and extended hours outdoors in different weather conditions
- The employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
