Job Summary
Repair and maintain high-speed equipment, conveyors, and automated packaging systems by troubleshooting electronic programs, replacing defective parts, and adjusting control instruments. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on mechanical devices including pumps, motors, compressors, and HVAC units while interpreting blueprints and utilizing test equipment. Respond expeditiously to equipment breakdowns and production needs, scheduling work orders to determine tool, manpower, and parts requirements. Mentor junior technicians and ensure safe working environments by following established manufacturing procedures and safety protocols.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of related Maintenance Technician/ Mechanical repair work in a related industry
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent education
- 2+ years of experience with automated conveyor systems and controls, the repair of material handling equipment, electro/mechanical equipment and principles
- Experience conducting predictive and preventative maintenance procedures
- 1+ year of blueprint and electrical schematic reading
- Experience with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
- Required to apply advanced working knowledge of technical field/area of specialization
- Exercises general application of principles, theories, and concepts, and proposes a course of action
- Performs advance shop floor competencies
- Good knowledge and understanding of Safe work practices common to the trades
- Must be able to source parts for all necessary repairs
- Must have strong interpersonal and employee relation skills
- Ability to read, comprehend and speak professionally with team members
- Must have basic mathematical skills
- Ability to work in a cold/ damp environment for extended periods
- An understanding of lean manufacturing principles and key Performance Indicators (KPI's)
- Must be able to lift and carry 10 lbs force constantly to move objects
- Exerting up to 50 lbs of force occasionally
- Exerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently
Desired Qualifications
- An Associates or higher degree, vocational education, apprenticeship program, certificates or training related to the trades, mechanics or engineering is preferred
- Experience working in a chilled food factory or related environment is preferred
- Bilingual (Spanish / English) helpful
