Job Summary
Make recommendations to the Community Administrator on necessary repairs, preventive maintenance, and property improvements. Repair and paint the building exterior, maintain adequate lighting, and keep the storage room clean and orderly. Schedule and expedite work orders while using extension ladders to access roofs, windows, and siding for repairs. Follow safety protocols and enforce facility rules, completing required training and rotating on-call shifts to ensure 24-hour maintenance coverage. This role supports housing stability for seniors, veterans, families, and individuals with disabilities within Eastern Avenue Apartments' permanent supportive housing program.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 6 months of full-time experience in building maintenance
- Proficient in English. Must have the ability to read and write in English
- Able to follow both verbal and written English instructions
- Ability to follow proper safety protocols
- Know how to turn the water valve and electricity off in case of emergency
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be capable of using and climbing an extension ladder to access the roof, windows, and siding to make repairs as needed
- Know, follow and enforce facility safety rules
- Complete required training
- Available to work on-call to ensure that twenty-four (24) hour maintenance is provided to the properties
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of basic machinery and tools
- Construction experience and/or maintenance of equipment and utility experience
