Job Summary
Under general supervision, repair and maintain machinery, equipment, physical structures, pipes, and electrical systems using hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments. Visually inspect and test equipment to detect malfunctions, then dismantle defective units to install new or repaired parts. Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, and gears, while installing and repairing components of hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Operate machine tools like lathes and welding equipment to fabricate parts, and maintain refrigerating systems and boiler fittings according to blueprints. This 2nd shift role at Maola, a farmer-owned cooperative processing dairy products, requires overtime, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or International Education Equivalent
- Basic mechanical trade knowledge
- Standard tools, materials, methods and practices involved in building, maintenance and repair including plumbing, electrical and painting
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to reach, bend, extend, and lift 50-60 pounds
- Work at a height of 20 feet to 85 feet above the ground
- Must be able to work in the cooler room with varying degrees of temperature
- Must be able to include contact with water or dairy liquids
- Must be able to be exposed to a noise level of 90 decibels
- Must be able to work in wet/slippery work conditions
