Job Summary
Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues across trailers, truck wiring, moffett loaders, small engine equipment (demo saws, core drills), generators, and field welding units; tackle backlog of non-operational equipment to restore fleet readiness; replace worn/defective components; perform diagnostics to plan repairs; pivot to fabrication and production support during slower periods, including welding and fabricating gates/fences; read blueprints and technical manuals; ensure compliance with DOT and OSHA safety standards; maintain shop parts inventory and coordinate with Fleet & Logistics leadership; 80–100 lb lifts; operate welding/fabrication equipment across multiple positions; contribute to long-term asset management and quality assurance.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Reliable transportation to Batavia, IL shop
- Proven experience diagnosing and repairing small engines, hydraulics, and trailers
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills relative to trailer wiring, lights, and small equipment
- Proficiency with welding equipment, fabrication tools, hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and grinders
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, schematics, and fabrication drawings
- Ability to operate a forklift and other small shop equipment
- Adaptable mindset with a willingness to switch gears from repairing tools to fabricating fences and gates
- Self-motivated with the ability to complete work thoroughly with minimal supervision
