Job Summary
Perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on manufacturing equipment, including mechanical systems like bearings, belts, chains, and utility systems. Diagnose common mechanical issues, execute repairs or part replacements, and restore equipment functionality using basic troubleshooting skills. Conduct scheduled inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and part replacements while utilizing diagnostic tools for condition-based maintenance. Complete assigned work orders supporting plant reliability, assist with equipment installations and upgrades, and document issues for the maintenance and operations teams. Work closely with senior technicians and maintenance leads to support larger repairs and overhauls. This entry-to-mid level role offers foundational skills in reliability practices within a team-oriented environment at Shaw Industries.
Required Qualifications
- Foundational experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and maintenance practices
- Understanding of key safety practices, including: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
- Understanding of key safety practices, including: Confined space entry
- Understanding of key safety practices, including: PPE requirements
- Understanding of key safety practices, including: Hot work procedures
- Understanding of key safety practices, including: Powered industrial trucks (PIT)
- Understanding of key safety practices, including: Fall protection and rigging basics
- Demonstrated commitment to working safely and following procedures
- Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring instruments
- Ability to select and safely use tools for maintenance tasks
- Comfortable using CMMS or basic computer systems to document work and request parts
- Ability to read and interpret basic mechanical drawings
- Capable of creating basic sketches or notes to support maintenance activities
- Basic troubleshooting skills for identifying and correcting common equipment issues
- Fundamental math skills, including measurements, unit conversions, and simple formulas
- Strong willingness to learn and develop advanced maintenance and reliability skills
- Open to feedback, training, and continuous improvement opportunities
- 1-2 years of Maintenance experience
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Basic welding, machining, or fabrication experience
- Familiarity with diagnostic tools or condition-monitoring techniques
- Industrial maintenance certifications or relevant technical education
