Job Summary
Shadow maintenance shop operations by observing team members, technicians, parts coordinators, supervisors, and managers. Diagnose mechanical, electrical, or equipment breakdowns using precision instruments like micrometers, dial indicators, and voltmeters. Perform preventative maintenance, general repairs, and troubleshooting on motor trucks while learning basic welding and metal techniques. Complete assigned projects throughout the apprenticeship and present findings at the conclusion. Gain knowledge of DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA regulations. This part-time role allows students to attend school while learning OD Maintenance Shop operations and company culture.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Currently attending a Diesel Truck Maintenance Degree Program
- GPA minimum of 2.5
- Willingness to learn Maintenance Shop Operations
- Willingness to complete assigned projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Great interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude
- Knowledge of precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multi-meters, calibrators, and other electronic diagnostic tools
- Basic techniques of welding skills
- Knowledge of metals
- Basic understanding of DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA rules and regulations
- Ability to present on a project at the conclusion of the apprenticeship
