Job Summary
Conduct routine maintenance tasks, handle guestroom requests, and oversee the Preventative Maintenance program to ensure all equipment meets hospitality standards. Immediately follow up on alarms to determine location and cause, then report emergency status to Guest Services or the General Manager. Perform daily property tours for debris removal and check lighting and irrigation periodically while coordinating fire safety system inspections. Assist in establishing ongoing training for Housekeeping, Front Desk, and Kitchen departments. Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, service-oriented manner and maintain proper radio etiquette. This evening and weekend position at the Aloft and Element in North Kansas City supports Marriott's goals of guest satisfaction and cost control.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license for the applicable state
- HVAC Certifications
- Ability to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up-to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
- Ability to stand during the entire shift
- Ability to convey information and ideas clearly
- Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately
- Ability to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations
- Ability to maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
- Ability to be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary
- Ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from disparate sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need
- Ability to be effective at listening to, understanding, clarifying, and resolving the concerns and issues raised by coworkers and guests
- Ability to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic arithmetic functions
- Ability to maintain regular attendance in compliance with Hospitality standards
- Ability to maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working (per brand standards)
- Ability to comply at all times with Marriott Hospitality standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations
- Ability to focus the Engineering Department on their role in contributing to the guest service scores
- Ability to assist in establishing ongoing training for all departments especially Housekeeping, Front Desk and Kitchen to maintain basic upkeep of their departments and equipment
- Ability to assist General Manager to coordinate all inspections of the fire safety systems, including extinguishers, smoke alarms, etc., to maintain proper safety standards
- Ability to ensure that the Preventative Maintenance program is implemented and administered according to Marriott Hospitality standards
- Ability to handle guestroom maintenance requests in a timely manner
- Ability to assist in maintaining files of and be familiar with all operational manuals and warranty agreements for equipment
- Ability to immediately follow up on any alarms to determine the exact location and cause; determine emergency status and report to Guest Services and/or the General Manager with findings
- Ability to maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, employees, and other departments
- Ability to ensure that pool is in compliance with area health codes
- Ability to use proper two-way radio etiquette at all times when communicating with other employees
- Ability to conduct daily property tour of the hotel and exterior perimeter for debris and trash removal
- Ability to check the lighting and irrigation periodically
- Availability for evening and weekend position
- Negotiable start times and amount of hours
