Maintenance Tech (2nd Shift)

Job Summary

Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance on ammonia refrigeration, HVAC, water heating, and boiler systems. Execute facility inspections, maintain refrigeration logs, and ensure housekeeping in assigned areas including the engine room and maintenance shop. Operate forklifts and aerial platforms while adhering to safety protocols and Good Manufacturing Practices. Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns using manufacturer manuals and electrical diagrams, reporting hazards and completing required training within six months. Execute work orders based on priority and perform pump rebuilds and sensor calibrations as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, follow verbal and written instructions, and possess basic mathematical skills
  • Must be able to utilize manufacturer equipment manuals, troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns, and read mechanical drawings
  • Must have the ability to run various computer applications that apply to the department and business to an acceptable degree, including but not limited to Microsoft Office Products, and CMMS program, manufacturing and maintenance software
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical diagrams
  • Must be able to successfully complete the Basic Ammonia Operator training within 6 months of job assignment
  • Basic Electrical knowledge to include NFPA 70e requirements
  • Are able to meet physical demands required for the position (stand, walk, bend, stoop and climb; able to lift up to 50 pounds)
  • Able to work in cold environments and around moving equipment
  • Good visual acuity with ability to distinguish colors
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 2 Years associate degree in mechanical or HVAC and /or 2 or more years of relevant experience in food/dairy manufacturing
  • Ability to work flexible hours, weekends and holidays
  • CARO or CIRO Certification
  • HMI/PLC troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in warehouse environment which includes but not limited to: noise, cold temperatures, standing/walking/bending/stooping/climbing stairs, maneuvering around material handling equipment and refrigeration system consistently throughout the shift
  • Physical lifting up to 50-lbs unassisted frequently throughout the shift
  • Wearing personal protective equipment and following all established procedures
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Fine manipulation and hand dexterity, including ability to grip and squeeze; handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms

Desired Qualifications

  • 2 Years associate degree in mechanical or HVAC and /or 2 or more years of relevant experience in food/dairy manufacturing preferred
  • Familiarity with Ammonia Refrigeration Systems preferred
  • Familiarity with process instrumentation and process drawings, PLC's preferred
