Job Summary
Assist in planning, developing, and implementing maintenance programs for buildings and equipment to minimize downtime and control mechanical expenses. Supervise and coordinate activities of maintenance mechanics, providing guidance, training, and support while developing a staff of competent personnel. Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules, assign tasks, and establish realistic job requirements with frequent performance feedback. Control parts inventory, manage labor and material costs, and identify training needs for measurable performance improvements. Ensure all activities comply with health, safety regulations, Good Manufacturing Practices, and food safety standards. Oversee shop cleanliness and organization, enforce foreign object prevention programs, and provide accurate performance information on all maintenance operations. Maintain effective communication between mechanical and plant operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 5-year experience in maintenance food manufacturing or related field
- at least 2 years in lead role
- Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprint, electrical, PLC, and mechanical schematics
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Excellent leadership and communication skills
- Use of basic math (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division) along with the ability to use some mathematical formulas and calculations
- Strong knowledge of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written and/or verbal form and dealing with several abstract and concrete variables
- Ability to estimate the labor required to perform maintenance tasks, define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Flexible schedule including weekends as needed
