Job Summary
Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems by checking blueprints, schematics, and repair manuals to determine corrective action. Inspect, operate, and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions, perform basic welding, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers. Execute preventive maintenance on facility and production assets, manage equipment repairs outside standard hours, and assume responsibility for all maintenance department shifts. Oversee regulatory and environmental compliance, ensure safety protocols including Lockout/Tagout, and monitor technician training status. Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System and partner with the Production Manager to develop and maintain budgets for capital expenditures and parts.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess Minnesota Special Engineer Boiler License
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
- Must pass UniFirst's maintenance knowledge assessment to be eligible for employment
- Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment. This includes wiring, electrical, mechanical, electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing required
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment required
- Maintenance administration experience including planning, scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, maintenance management systems is required
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required
- Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills is required
- Experience in Hand & Power tools is required
- Lockout / Tagout experience is required
- Ability to work overtime as needed is required
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- High school and/or GED is preferred
- Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background is preferred
- Applicable military experience will be considered
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising maintenance personnel is preferred
