Job Summary
Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems by checking blueprints, schematics, and repair manuals to determine corrective action. Inspect, operate, and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions, perform basic welding, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers. Execute and assign preventive maintenance on facility and production assets while managing repairs outside standard hours. Oversee all shifts, ensure regulatory and environmental compliance, and enforce safety protocols including Confined Space and Lockout/Tagout procedures. Monitor technician training status and utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System. Partner with Production to manage budgets for capital expenditures and parts. Assume responsibility for the entire maintenance department, including training staff and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
- Must pass UniFirst's maintenance knowledge assessment to be eligible for employment
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising maintenance personnel
- Maintenance administration experience including planning, scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, maintenance management systems
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills
- Experience in Hand & Power tools
- Lockout / Tagout experience
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- High school and/or GED
- Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background
- Applicable military experience
