Job Summary
Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems by checking blueprints, schematics, and repair manuals to determine corrective action. Inspect, operate, and test machinery to diagnose malfunctions, perform basic welding repairs, and troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers. Execute and assign preventive maintenance on facility and production assets while managing repairs outside standard hours. Oversee all shifts, ensure regulatory and environmental compliance, and assume responsibility for department safety including Lockout/Tagout procedures. Partner with Production to manage budgets for capital expenditures and train maintenance personnel. Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System and monitor technician training status.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
- Must pass UniFirst's maintenance knowledge assessment to be eligible for employment
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising maintenance personnel
- Maintenance administration experience including planning, scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, maintenance management systems
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics
- Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills
- Experience in Hand & Power tools
- Lockout / Tagout experience
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- High school and/or GED
- Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background
- Applicable military experience
