Job Summary
Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems by checking blueprints, schematics, and repair manuals to determine corrective actions. Inspect, operate, and test machinery while troubleshooting and repairing Programmable Logic Controllers and associated control systems. Perform basic welding activities, execute preventive maintenance on facility and production assets, and manage equipment repairs during non-standard hours. Oversee regulatory and environmental compliance, assume responsibility for departmental safety, and conduct Confined Space and Lockout/Tagout procedures. Utilize a Computerized Maintenance Management System, partner with Production to manage budgets for capital expenditures, and train maintenance personnel. Assume responsibility for all shifts in the maintenance department with periodic night and weekend overtime.
Required Qualifications
- Minnesota Special Engineer Boiler License
- Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
- Must pass UniFirst's maintenance knowledge assessment to be eligible for employment
- Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment. This includes wiring, electrical, mechanical, electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing required
- Minimum of 3 years of work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment required
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising maintenance personnel is preferred
- Maintenance administration experience including planning, scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, maintenance management systems is required
- Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required
- Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills is required
- Experience in Hand & Power tools is required
- Lockout / Tagout experience is required
- Ability to work overtime as needed is required
- Ability to lift up to 80 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- High school and/or GED is preferred
- Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising maintenance personnel is preferred
- Applicable military experience will be considered
