Maintenance Supervisor - UniFirst

Job Summary

Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems by checking blueprints, schematics, and repair manuals, then inspect, operate, and test machinery to identify malfunctions. Perform basic welding, troubleshoot Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), and execute preventive maintenance on facility and production assets while following documented schedules and manufacturer instructions. Manage and assign all equipment maintenance, including repairs outside standard hours, and assume responsibility for all shifts in the department. Oversee regulatory and environmental compliance, ensure safety protocols like Lockout/Tagout are followed, and monitor technician training status. Partner with the Production Manager to develop and maintain budgets for capital expenditures and parts. Requires a Minnesota Special Engineer Boiler License, 3+ years of industrial repair experience, and proficiency in maintenance management systems. Schedule includes Monday through Friday with periodic night and weekend overtime.

Required Qualifications

  • Minnesota Special Engineer Boiler License
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
  • Must pass UniFirst's maintenance knowledge assessment to be eligible for employment
  • Knowledgeable in maintenance equipment. This includes wiring, electrical, mechanical, electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing required
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience repairing industrial processing equipment in a production environment required
  • Maintenance administration experience including planning, scheduling, budgeting, negotiating, parts management, vendor management, maintenance management systems is required
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics is required
  • Ability to read and understand maintenance literature printed in English required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office skills is required
  • Experience in Hand & Power tools is required
  • Lockout / Tagout experience is required
  • Ability to work overtime as needed is required
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • High school and/or GED is preferred
  • Two-year technical degree in an appropriate background is preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising maintenance personnel is preferred
  • Applicable military experience will be considered
