Job Summary
Maintenance Supervisor role oversees 600+ residential units, providing day-to-day supervision of maintenance and porter staff, planning and prioritizing work, training, and ensuring safety and quality standards. Responsibilities include supervising work orders and unit turns, training staff, enforcing safety/compliance (CalOSHA, MSDS, EPA logs), managing inventory and preventative maintenance programs, coordinating with property managers, budgeting and reviewing maintenance charges, on-call coordination, and leading a maintenance team through skilled trades (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC) to maintain housing facilities. Required skills include reading blueprints, journey-level trades expertise, contractor coordination, strong communication, attention to detail, and a valid California driver's license. Education: high school diploma or equivalent with five+ years of relevant experience; two+ years in a lead/supervisory capacity; general contractor license preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Five (5) or more years journey level general maintenance or contracting experience
- At least two (2) years experience in a lead or supervisory capacity
- Possession of General Contractors license preferred
- Valid CA Driver’s license and ability to provide own transportation with driving record and insurance
- Ability to read, write and estimate materials and supplies
- Knowledge of blueprints and ability to interpret technical drawings
- Ability to supervise and manage maintenance staff and oversee budgets and inspections
