Maintenance Supervisor

Job Summary

Oversee daily planning and scheduling of repair work for diesel fleet, alternate fuel, containers, and heavy-duty equipment to optimize productivity. Conduct daily shop huddles, fleet walks, and road tests while performing inspections and quality control checks to ensure compliance with federal/state regulations. Supervise, coach, and evaluate shop personnel, managing hiring, disciplinary actions, and performance appraisals. Plan repairs in M5 planner, procure parts, track issues, and review expenses within approval levels. Maintain inventory control, submit required reports, and assist in budget preparation. Ensure shop cleanliness and attend driver/safety meetings to promote morale. Requires three years of heavy diesel truck maintenance experience, a valid driver's license, and ability to work in various weather conditions with physical demands including lifting 50 pounds.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Three (3) or more years of heavy diesel truck maintenance experience
  • One (1) or more years of lead technician or supervisory experience
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Ability to supervise, coach, counsel, discipline, and train employees
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Strong work ethic, demonstrating integrity, trust, and maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to be a self-starter capable of working effectively in a fast-paced, team environment
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend reports and associated documents
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet time sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to exert muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects
  • Ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example: two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting or standing
  • Ability to make simple and repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists
  • Ability to judge the distance between equipment and an object
  • Flexibility to accept and adapt to change as well as the commitment to seek continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and other related state and federal regulations
  • Knowledge of all tools required to perform repairs and maintenance on vehicles
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques
  • Full set of hand tools required
  • Knowledge of welding, compactor repair, air brake inspection, vehicle inspections
  • Ability to drive a pickup or heavy truck, equipped with a 5-7 speed manual shift transmission or automatic transmission, climbing in and out of the truck cab
  • Physical ability to lift at least 50 pounds as needed and maintain steady work pace
  • Valid work authorization in the country where the job is located
