Job Summary
Oversee, assign, and prioritize daily maintenance and repair operations across residential properties in Burnaby, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. Actively lead the maintenance technician team by visiting multiple sites, troubleshooting complex issues, and stepping in for hands-on support where required. Collaborate with the Facilities Manager to develop operational plans, manage maintenance software for accurate work order tracking, and coordinate with contractors to assess workmanship and materials. Monitor staff and contractor performance, providing coaching, corrective action planning, and technical mentorship while identifying opportunities to improve workflow efficiency and preventative maintenance practices. Travel between properties regularly to maintain direct operational oversight and quality assurance.
Required Qualifications
- Strong leadership skills with a hands-on, team-oriented approach
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Solid understanding of building systems, preventative maintenance practices, and residential housing operations
- Strong organizational and planning skills including the ability to effectively manage time, responsibilities, and multiple priorities and deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities in active work environments
- Competency in operating maintenance equipment and related software applications
- Broad skill set in property maintenance, including carpentry, drywall, painting, and general repairs
- Knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, basic electrical work, and appliance repair
- Experience assigning and coordinating work orders in a multi-site environment
- Basic computer literacy and the ability to learn new software tools
- Physical capability to perform the full scope of maintenance duties
- Diploma or certificate level training in an engineering/technical field
- 2-3 years of recent experience in residential or commercial construction or maintenance
- Monday to Friday schedule
- On-call responsibilities
- In person location in Burnaby, BC
- Travel is required
