Job Summary
Oversee maintenance and repair operations for tractors, trailers, and ancillary equipment, ensuring compliance with DOT and internal safety standards. Manage vendor relationships, negotiate maintenance agreements, and track fleet maintenance history. Lead preventive maintenance programs to reduce breakdowns, validate invoices, and monitor budget spending. The role requires 5+ years of relevant experience, strong mechanical knowledge, and the ability to make cost-effective maintenance decisions.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in fleet maintenance, heavy-duty trucking, or transportation equipment management
- Strong working knowledge of Class 8 tractors, trailers, DOT requirements, and preventive maintenance programs
- Proven experience reviewing repair estimates, issuing POs, and making cost-based maintenance decisions
Desired Qualifications
- Established vendor relationships within the trucking or transportation maintenance industry
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable pricing and service agreements
- High level of mechanical aptitude combined with financial and operational judgment
