Job Summary
Schedule and perform work in accordance with the preventive maintenance program for rooms and building equipment, coordinating with the Rooms Division. Delegate daily assignments, review priorities, and supervise the Engineering Department's operation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, refrigeration, and mechanical systems. Ensure final inspection of all engineering-related work, execute work orders, and handle emergency equipment repairs while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and city safety codes. Carry out supervisory functions including interviewing, hiring, training, and addressing employee complaints. Maintain proper tool storage and chemical handling according to hotel requirements. Available for flexible schedules including weekends and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Minimum two years' experience as a hotel maintenance engineer
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Basic working knowledge of building maintenance, electrical, plumbing and refrigeration equipment
- Ability to satisfactorily communicate with guests, management, and co-workers to their understanding
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to interpret manufacturer's literature for installation, preparation, use and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property
- Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail, speed, accuracy, follow-through, courtesy, cooperativeness and work with a minimum of supervision
- Ability to endure abundant physical movements in carrying out job duties
- Ability to enforce hotel's standards, policies and procedures with staff
- Ability to troubleshoot and use alternatives in emergency situations
- Ability to handle potentially hazardous chemicals
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of hotel guests and pertinent hotel information
- Be available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and varied shifts, as required to meet the needs of the Company's business operations
Desired Qualifications
- college degree or vocational training a plus
- Any building trade license/certificate from the state of hotel's operation preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
