Job Summary
The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for hands-on, day-to-day preventative and corrective maintenance for all Home Chef equipment, overseeing the maintenance department, coordinating with plant teams and external contractors, managing the CMMS and work orders, and prioritizing emergency and planned maintenance to minimize operational disruption. The role leads project management including budgeting, forecasting costs, and preparing maintenance reports; develops preventative maintenance tasks and manages spare parts inventory. It requires ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, training maintenance staff on PM procedures, and supporting the CI team’s development. Additional duties include communicating maintenance plans to plant leaders, coaching team members, and driving KPI-driven improvements to equipment uptime and reliability, with on-call availability after hours and on weekends. The role emphasizes safety (LOTO, elevated work, hot work, confined space, line breaks), adherence to food safety SOPs and audits, and serving as site point of contact for capital improvements when the corporate project manager is not on site.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience (food/controlled environments preferred)
- Proficient in CMMS and MS Excel to analyze data trends, manage maintenance metrics
- Expert knowledge of PLC, servo, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, including industrial electronics, AC/DC controls, and schematic interpretation
- Ability to be on-call and respond to facility needs after hours and/or during weekends
- Active safety leader with OSHA certifications (PIT/Scissor Lift) and oversight experience in LOTO, Hot Work, Confined Space, and Line Break protocols
- General high school degree, or equivalent, (e.g. GED). Associate’s degree, bachelor’s degree or technical degree preferred.
