Job Summary
Conduct skilled DIY and general maintenance on facility interiors and exteriors, including carpentry, plumbing, tiling, painting, and grounds upkeep. Transport residents, staff, and supplies using a company vehicle for appointments, recreational activities, and Meals on Wheels deliveries. Perform routine safety checks on wheelchairs, beds, fire alarms, and emergency lighting while maintaining accurate documentation. Liaise with care staff to address maintenance requests and report significant defects immediately. Maintain the vehicle in a safe, clean condition and adhere to all health and safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Experience and qualifications appropriate to the position
- Previous experience in care of the elderly, IHC and/or psychiatric residents
- Physical fitness and a commitment to maintain this
- A caring considerate attitude and responsiveness to the care of the Elderly
- Ability to adapt to change and to work efficiently under pressure
- Good organisation and prioritising skills
- Honesty, integrity, conscientiousness and industriousness
- Good communication skills
- Good understanding, able to follow instructions
- Awareness of ways to optimise independence of residents
- Understanding of residents' rights, advocacy and privacy
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstration of appropriate skills, knowledge and experience, or the aptitude to learn through orientation and training
