Job Summary
Monitor plant health and condition, assist with pruning and fertilizing, and evaluate whether plants can be restored or classified as spoilage. Tie trees to head-level wire, replace broken stakes, and identify pests or disease conditions. Notify Inventory of spoiled material, alert buyers when varieties are overstocked, and report irrigation needs to management. Maintain nursery organization by blowing leaves, disposing of trash, organizing storage, and returning pallets to designated locations. Use company-issued PPE and tools safely while ensuring grounds remain clean and organized for employees, customers, and vendors. Handle stock carefully, water appropriately, and place material in designated areas. Work outdoors primarily between 6:30am-3:30pm Monday-Friday and 6:30-1:30pm Saturday.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to identify plant material and recognize plant quality and health standards
- Ability to identify common plant pests and disease conditions
- Ability to follow direction and work effectively within a team environment
- Ability to communicate concerns regarding plant health, irrigation needs, or yard conditions to management
- Ability to safely use basic nursery tools and equipment
- Lifting up to 50 lbs independently
- Participating in team lifts up to 100 lbs
- Required personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as applicable
- Complete Form I-9 and participate in the E-Verify employment eligibility verification process
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a nursery, landscape, or agricultural environment
- Experience working with plant maintenance, pruning, fertilizing, or nursery care practices
