Maintenance Specialist

Job Summary

Conduct facility audits, inspections, and compliance reviews while supporting the implementation of corporate maintenance policies and preventive programs. Temporarily assume the role of Maintenance Director at community locations during vacancies, absences, or transitions to ensure operational continuity. Provide hands-on training, mentoring, and onboarding to community-level maintenance teams and staff. Collaborate with Executive Directors to monitor safety compliance, oversee vendor projects, and resolve urgent emergency response issues. Act as a field resource to identify operational challenges and recommend improvements. Requires on-call availability for onsite or remote emergencies, frequent travel, and a valid driver's license.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in maintenance, plant operations, or facilities management
  • Strong working knowledge of building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, life safety, etc.)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
  • Ability to be on-call for any onsite or remote emergencies
  • Strong hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and step into leadership roles at the community level
  • Knowledge of Title 22, OSHA, life safety, and regulatory requirements
  • Effective communication, training, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in dynamic environments
  • Advanced understanding of facilities planning, preventive maintenance, and asset management
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, ordinances, and regulations
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach, push, pull, climb stairs, and grasp objects
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to traverse and work in facilities of varying size and condition, indoors and outdoors, in all weather conditions
  • Ability to travel frequently and work on-site at different community locations

Desired Qualifications

  • Healthcare, hospitality, or senior living experience
  • Experience in training, mentoring, or leading small teams
  • Technical certifications in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or safety
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance management systems
