Job Summary
Perform specialized repairs including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, and general construction to ensure a safe, secure, and functional facility environment. Install, repair, and maintain locks and security hardware while overseeing preventative maintenance and safety inspections. Supervise inmate maintenance porters, maintaining accountability for tools and work areas, and complete building alterations such as framing, concrete finishing, and flooring. Assist with seasonal duties like lawn care and snow removal. This role requires an associate degree in construction or HVAC with one year of experience, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work an on-call rotation. Applicants must pass a medical exam and drug test before completing the fully paid Nebraska Corrections Training Program.
Required Qualifications
- Associates degree or equivalent vocational education in construction, HVAC, welding, or other maintenance/construction trade
- One year of experience in building maintenance or a mechanical trade
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to work an on-call rotation
- Ability to lift 50lbs with assistance
- Pass a medical exam
- Pass a drug test
- Successfully complete the fully paid NE Corrections Training Program
