Job Summary
Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repair of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and mechanical systems across Center facilities and grounds. Perform journey-level maintenance on Center-owned and leased vehicles, including inspections, minor repairs, tire management, and transportation to service providers. Coordinate vendor services, maintain accurate fleet documentation, and respond to after-hours or weekend on-call coverage for facility and fleet needs. Travel throughout the catchment area to support operations while maintaining tools and work areas in a safe, organized condition.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in general facility and building maintenance and repair work
- Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent
- Valid drivers' license with an acceptable driving record
- Knowledge of general building maintenance and repair procedures, including basic electrical, plumbing, appliance, drywall, flooring, and fixture repairs
- Ability to safely troubleshoot maintenance issues and utilize standard maintenance tools and equipment, including multimeters and volt meters
- Knowledge of construction, repair, maintenance, and operation of buildings, equipment, building materials, and applicable fire and safety regulations
- Ability to safely and effectively utilize tools, equipment, and maintenance procedures to inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building systems and equipment
- Ability to understand and utilize technical drawings and diagrams
- Ability to proficiently utilize computer programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and maintenance work order systems
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with supervisors, individuals served, co-workers, contractors, vendors, and the public while maintaining professionalism, tact, and good judgment
- Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and carry out assignments with minimal supervision
- Ability to safely de-escalate and manage interactions with individuals who may exhibit verbally or physically escalated behavior
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to see, hear, and communicate effectively to perform job duties
- Ability to use a computer, telephone, and standard office equipment for prolonged periods
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing, filing, and data entry
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 15 pounds
- Ability to respond appropriately to challenging or unpredictable situations, including safely de-escalating and managing interactions with individuals who may exhibit verbally or physically escalated behavior
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position safely and effectively, including maintaining professionalism, sound judgment, appropriate interpersonal interactions, concentration, and the ability to respond appropriately in stressful or crisis situations
