Job Summary
Maintain and repair diesel and non-diesel equipment, including chassis components, refuse bodies, hydraulic systems, and air brakes. Perform preventative maintenance, light engine work, and line maintenance welding while diagnosing malfunctions using electronic tools. Conduct basic tire work, such as replacement and tread depth checks, and safely provide road service to return company equipment to operation. Complete applicable training programs and perform other job-related duties as assigned. Work a regular shift with direct supervision from a Lead Technician or Maintenance Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- Moderate skill proficiency in chassis components
- Moderate skill proficiency in refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Moderate skill proficiency in air and hydraulic braking systems
- Moderate skill proficiency in light engine repair and maintenance
- Moderate skill proficiency in suspension, drivetrain and steering systems
- Moderate skill proficiency in heating and air conditioning
- Moderate skill proficiency in line maintenance welding and fabrication
- Ability to safely provide road service when necessary
- Ability to identify the source of malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools
- Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in suspensions & steering
- Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in general engine
- Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in transmissions
- Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in brakes
- Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in electrical
- Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in hydraulics
- Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in drive train
- Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision in diesel emissions
- 3-5 Years of experience in a technician position demonstrating knowledge of both gasoline and diesel-powered equipment diagnosis and repair
- Graduating from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months
- Valid Driver's License
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience with, or knowledge of, maintenance work to be performed on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8)
- Commercial Driver's License
