Job Summary
Maintain and repair diesel and non-diesel equipment and trucks, including chassis components, refuse bodies, hydraulic electrical systems, air brakes, and drive train components. Perform basic tire work such as replacement, rotation, and tread depth checks. Diagnose multi-system malfunctions using electronic tools and conduct preventative maintenance on-site and on the road. Execute line maintenance welding and fabrication as needed. Work a regular shift from 7pm to 6am, Sunday through Thursday.
Required Qualifications
- Moderate skill proficiency in chassis components
- Moderate skill proficiency in refuse bodies, including control, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Moderate skill proficiency in air and hydraulic braking systems
- Moderate skill proficiency in light engine repair and maintenance
- Moderate skill proficiency in suspension, drivetrain and steering systems
- Moderate skill proficiency in heating and air conditioning
- Ability to perform preventative and repair maintenance functions
- Ability to perform line maintenance welding and fabrication
- Ability to safely provide road service
- Ability to identify the source of malfunctions using a variety of electronic tools
- Ability to perform basic inspections with limited supervision
- Knowledge of suspensions & steering
- Knowledge of general engine, transmissions, brakes, electrical, hydraulics, drive train, diesel emissions
- 3-5 Years of experience in a technician position
- Knowledge of both gasoline and diesel-powered equipment diagnosis and repair
- Valid Driver's License
- Graduating from an accredited automotive college or technical school within the next 3 months
Desired Qualifications
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications (T1-T8)
- Commercial Driver's License
- Prior experience with, or knowledge of, maintenance work to be performed on Classes 1-5 light/medium duty and heavy-duty Class 7-8 trucks, aircraft, or ships
