Job Summary

Maintenance Reliability Engineer focused on driving equipment reliability, uptime, and asset performance in a heavy manufacturing/foundry environment. Serves as a technical bridge between maintenance, engineering, and production to reduce unplanned downtime, improve life cycles, and optimize maintenance strategies. Applies RCFA, RCM, PM optimization, PdM, RCA analysis, FMEA, MOC, and continuous improvement to develop and implement reliability strategies for critical foundry assets (melting furnaces, molding systems, conveyors, dust collection, and material handling). Leads RCFA investigations and corrective actions, analyzes MTBF/MTTR and downtime trends, identifies chronic issues, designs and manages PM/PdM programs, supports condition-based monitoring (vibration, infrared thermography, ultrasound), and drives CI through Lean, TPM, and Six Sigma. Partners with maintenance planners, supervisors, and technicians to improve compliance, planning effectiveness, and execution; supports capital projects with focus on maintainability, safety, and lifecycle cost reduction; performs FMEA and implements mitigation strategies for critical assets; maintains accurate asset records and documentation in CMMS; provides technical coaching to maintenance personnel; ensures compliance with OSHA, environmental, and safety requirements; may require occasional off-shift or weekend support during outages or failures.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related technical field. Will consider experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5–10+ years of experience in reliability engineering, maintenance engineering, or industrial equipment engineering.
  • Experience supporting steel, aluminum, heavy manufacturing, or similar industrial operations.
  • Strong knowledge of rotating equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, drives, and industrial controls.
  • Experience with CMMS systems, asset management, and maintenance data analysis.
  • Proven experience leading RCFA investigations and implementing corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of furnace systems, sand systems, material handling equipment, dust collection, and high-temperature manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with reliability tools including RCM, FMEA, PM optimization, and predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Six Sigma, TPM, or Reliability Engineering certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and industrial safety requirements.
