Job Summary
Perform general maintenance and repair of building structures and mechanical, electrical, and sanitary systems throughout the district. Conduct major mechanical repairs on district vehicles with minimal supervision, including daily cleaning and service of buses. Maintain, repair, and install heating and air conditioning systems while ensuring safe operation of all HVAC equipment. Operate hand and power tools to follow established policies, read blueprints, and diagnose problems. Requires a valid Texas commercial driver's license with Passenger and School Bus endorsements, HVAC contractor license, and ability to pass DOT alcohol and drug tests.
Required Qualifications
- Clear and valid Texas commercial driver's license with Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement
- Texas air conditioning and refrigeration contractor license or technician certification or be willing to get certification
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
- Ability to operate hand and power tools
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to visually inspect and service vehicles
- Ability to operate equipment and tools involved in servicing vehicles
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
- Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and physical exam
- Ability to operate bus or vehicle
- Knowledge of basic construction and routine maintenance and repair procedures
- Knowledge of automotive mechanics and diesel and fuel engine maintenance and repair
- Knowledge of HVAC repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques
