Job Summary
Maintain industrial equipment at a wood preserving plant by troubleshooting breakdowns, adjusting machinery, and replacing defective parts using hand and power tools. Conduct periodic inspections to complete preventative maintenance requirements, identify opportunities for safety and reliability improvements, and ensure regulatory compliance. Operate drills, grinders, welders, and cutting torches safely while adhering to all work safety rules and housekeeping duties. This role requires 3–5 years of experience, machining and welding skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Candidates must have a valid Class 5 driver's license, speak English fluently, and be physically fit for all weather conditions. Work typically runs 6am–4:30pm Monday to Thursday with occasional weekends, requiring flexible scheduling and reliable personal transportation.
Required Qualifications
- Machining and welding skills
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds or 23 kilograms
- A safety conscious attitude with strict adherence to safe work practices and safe job procedures
- Accurately interpret work orders and technical manuals
- Good working knowledge of hydraulics
- Have a valid Class 5 driver's license
- Able to work in all weather conditions
- Bending, lifting, and reaching during course of shift
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English clearly and fluently
- Must be able to wear hand, eye and ear protection as required
- Must be flexible to accommodate operational and scheduling requirements
- Must be physically fit to meet the daily physical demands of working on equipment
- Must have own steel-toed boots
- Must have own reliable transportation
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship
- High school graduation
