Job Summary
Maintenance Operative responsible for ground maintenance, routine inspections of premises and equipment, proactive preventative maintenance, basic repairs and reactive maintenance, and maintaining records. Duties include overseeing contractors for professional repairs, diagnosing mechanical issues, repairing machines or structures, regular fire alarm testing and emergency lighting systems, PAT testing, and ensuring compliance with ANUK Accreditation Scheme requirements and HMO regulations. Requires proficiency with hand and power tools, ability to read blueprints/instruction manuals, and the ability to work across one or more student accommodation sites. Driving licence and car ownership preferred. Emphasis on safety, attention to detail, and strong organisational skills.
Required Qualifications
- Proven maintenance experience and qualifications where necessary
- Proactive and able to work on own initiative
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
- Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and repair defective parts
- Ability to check blueprints and instruction manuals as necessary
- Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices
- Experience performing routine maintenance
- Strong organisation and follow-up skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional presentation and attitude
- Reliable with strong time management skills
- General knowledge of health and safety at work procedures will be advantageous
