Job Summary
Maintenance Officer in the Estates team at University Hospital Wishaw overseeing a multi-skilled maintenance workforce, planning and delivering planned and reactive maintenance, AP duties, compliance with HTMs and safety standards, and coordination of contractors and resources within a hospital environment; responsible for safety, asset management via CAFM, and stakeholder engagement while leading and developing the team to ensure reliable, compliant building services and patient-focused facilities.
Required Qualifications
- City and Guilds, NVQ, or equivalent qualification in an engineering, electrical, or mechanical discipline
- BTEC, ONC, or equivalent in engineering services, or significant relevant experience (typically 5 years)
- Completion of an appropriate apprenticeship in a relevant engineering discipline
- Institute of Leadership and Management (ILM) Level 1 or equivalent supervisory management training
- Competent Person status in one or more specialist areas (e.g. low voltage electrical systems, boiler and pressure systems, piped medical gases, sterilisation systems)
- Ability to achieve Authorised Person (AP) status in relevant disciplines (e.g. high voltage, boilers, medical gases) within a defined timeframe
- Experience in a Hospital maintenance or engineering role
- Experience of managing or supervising colleagues, including involvement in recruitment
- Experience handling employee relations matters such as absence management, disciplinary processes, and team performance
- Experience working with trade unions and maintaining effective working relationships
- Strong understanding of health and safety legislation and safe working practices
- Vetting and checks: membership of PVG Scheme and Occupational Health Questionnaire
