Job Summary
Perform skilled maintenance and repair work on buildings, equipment, and facilities, specializing in plumbing, heating, and minor electrical tasks. Plan projects, estimate materials, read blueprints, and operate power equipment, hand tools, and testing devices while maintaining the shop in good condition. Repair vehicles, tractors, and lawn mowers; clean walls, woodwork, and floors; and perform occasional cleaning duties as assigned. Maintain regular daily attendance and possess the physical strength to lift items over fifty pounds. Reports to the Maintenance Mechanic Crew Chief and may supervise lower-level workers. Full-time role with overtime available.
Required Qualifications
- Must be ambulatory; ability to walk and carry heavy items and to be able to operate all related power equipment
- Must have good vision; ability to see well enough to meet standards set by supervisor or district
- Must possess physical strength; enough strength to lift, move, and carry heavy items throughout the day (heavy items are defined as those that weigh over fifty (50) pounds)
- Intelligence; must be able to evaluate a problem, devise and implement a solution
- Must possess social skills; must be able to work in a team environment
- Must be able to read blueprints to determine outcome of work indicated
- Must be able to interpret diagrams, charts and specifications
