Job Summary
Conduct preventive maintenance on motors, pneumatic tools, hydraulic systems, conveyor systems, and production machines by following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, and engineering specifications. Troubleshoot malfunctions by observing mechanical devices, listening for issues, and using precision instruments such as laser alignment tools, stethoscopes, tachometers, infrared cameras, and vibration analysis equipment. Dismantle devices to remove defective parts with hoists, cranes, and hand/power tools, while inspecting used components with tape measures, calipers, and micrometers to determine dimensional changes. Adjust functional parts and control instruments using hand tools, levels, plumb bobs, and straightedges. Manage equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock levels, anticipating needs, expediting orders, and verifying receipts. Provide mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and completing feedback documentation. Maintain technical knowledge through educational workshops and technical publications, while ensuring safe and clean working environments by complying with procedures and regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Have ability to work off of blueprints
- Welding experience
- Experience with cutting torch and plasma cutter
- Experience with motor/pump alignment
- Experience with the installation of welded, threaded and PVC piping
- Industrial fabrication experience
- Experience with the use of basic shop equipment (i.e. drill press, stationary band saw, pedestal grinder, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of rotary valves and dust collector systems
- Understanding of basic rigging principles and equipment
- Must have basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
- 2+ years' experience as a mechanic in an industrial manufacturing setting
