Job Summary
Perform light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks in a safe, professional manner, taking extra precautions in patient and resident care areas. Execute installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems, including boiler operations, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair. Maintain campus grounds and perform outside maintenance duties while troubleshooting conditions using blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals. Work independently with minimal supervision, complying with federal, state, and local codes and facility policies. May require on-call duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Must take extra precautions when working in patient/resident care areas and specifically keep tools out of the reach of children
- Must possess basic mechanical knowledge
- Must show competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices and gauges
- Must be able to explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting
- Must be able to work from blueprints, schematics and technical manuals
- Must be able to function with safety, moral end efficiency of the department in mind
- Must be able to work all shifts and hours as scheduled
- Must comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code
- Must understand written and verbal communications
- Good written and oral communications skills required
- Must work independently with minimal supervision
- Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances
- Depending on location, a valid driver's license and a good driving record may be required
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Trade school or vocational school preferred
- Minimum of two years experience in building systems preferred
