Job Summary
Perform scheduled and as-needed interior and exterior repairs while coordinating work with other departments. Execute daily maintenance checks on buildings, grounds, and facilities, and assist inspectors and contractors in testing, inspecting, or repairing utility and emergency systems. Conduct fire alarm tests, participate in fire drills and emergency evacuation exercises, and assist with snow removal including shoveling, plowing, and salting. Maintain tools and equipment in good working order, secure storage areas, and requisition supplies as authorized. Operate hand tools and equipment to move objects requiring up to 100 pounds of force occasionally. Work in a weekend rotation of two back-to-back weekends followed by eight weeks off, with holiday and on-call duties.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a genuine interest in working for the elderly
- Must demonstrate excellent customer service
- Must have completed high school or equivalent, preferably with a vocational trade concentration
- Must be able to follow oral and written instructions, and speak the English language
- Must be able to operate hand tools and equipment, and read common measuring instruments
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, both individually and as part of a team
- Must be able to exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to moving objects
- Must be able to fulfill the weekend rotation described above, as well as the holiday rotation and on-call schedule
Desired Qualifications
- At least one year's previous facility maintenance experience
