Job Summary
Perform routine, preventive, and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems for conveyors, grinders, balers, and compactors. Troubleshoot equipment failures, respond to urgent repair needs, and complete daily work orders while documenting all activities. Follow strict safety protocols including lockout/tagout procedures and assist with installations, upgrades, and minor facility repairs for lighting and plumbing. Communicate equipment issues and parts requirements to the Maintenance Supervisor. Maintain tools, parts, and work areas in a clean, organized condition. This role reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor within Mid Valley Disposal's MRF and Compost operations, supporting a stable, hands-on environment focused on safety and minimal downtime.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2+ years of maintenance experience in an industrial, manufacturing, recycling, compost, or waste management environment
- Strong working knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
- Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics
- Strong commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and reliability
- Familiarity with OSHA and general industrial safety standards
- Comfortable using computers, Microsoft Office, and maintenance management systems
Desired Qualifications
- Technical certification or formal training in mechanical or electrical systems
- Experience working in MRF, compost, recycling, or heavy industrial environments
- Bilingual in Spanish
