Job Summary
Maintenance Mechanic II responsible for preventative maintenance, repairs, and mechanical troubleshooting to ensure safe and efficient operation of hotel equipment, guest rooms, and public areas. Duties include performing preventative maintenance, carrying out repairs in guest rooms and public areas (caulking, basic plumbing, tile repair, painting, minor carpentry), diagnosing and repairing mechanical/electrical equipment, safely shutting down equipment, conducting routine mechanical rounds and documenting inspections, operating the fire panel in emergencies, mentoring Maintenance Utility team members, and responding promptly to maintenance requests to minimize guest disruption. Requires knowledge of carpentry, electrical systems, HVAC, plumbing, ability to read blueprints, WHMIS and safety procedures, and strong communication and organizational skills. Must be available to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrates a strong commitment and passion for guest satisfaction through high-quality maintenance and repair standards
- Previous maintenance experience in a hotel or similar environment is considered an asset
- Working knowledge of carpentry, electrical systems, HVAC, and plumbing
- Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings and floor plans
- Strong diagnostic skills with attention to detail
- General knowledge of WHMIS and health & safety procedures
- Lockout/Tagout procedures prior to performing maintenance work
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Positive, service-oriented attitude with guests and team members
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders
- Ability to adapt to changing workloads with energy and urgency
- Maintains professional composure handling multiple tasks and guest requests
- Availability to work all shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
