Maintenance Mechanic I

Maintenance Mechanic I responsible for collecting, labeling and interfacing with outside vendors to dispose of biological, chemical, hazardous and pharma waste from laboratory and manufacturing sources. Supports the Facility through inspection, repair and maintenance activities that may include testing safety equipment (eyewashes, showers), inspecting fire extinguishers, spill kits, PPE, exit lighting, repairing HVAC equipment, plumbing, troubleshooting motors and electrical issues. Conducts daily rounds of the Facility and Utility equipment. Responsibilities include testing eyewashes and safety showers, inspecting fire extinguishers, testing emergency lighting, replacing light bulbs and ceiling tiles, repairing domestic plumbing, drywall repair, patching and painting, filling liquid nitrogen dewars, operating a forklift (training provided), transporting equipment to and from buildings (valid DL required), overseeing vendors (e.g., pest control), routine rounds and readings of utility equipment, replacing HVAC filters. Supplemental duties include assisting with maintenance on unitary equipment, replacing electrical ballasts, assisting in writing procedures for maintenance and calibration, assisting with procurement of critical spare parts for GMP systems, spill prevention/cleanup, and hazard waste collection and disposal with outside vendors. Requires ability to read drawings, schematics and piping diagrams (P&IDs), ability to work in a clean room environment, basic computer skills, and capability to communicate clearly in writing and orally; experience in mechanical, pipefitting, or plumbing trades is preferred.
