Job Summary
Execute preventive maintenance schedules and document all activities using the plant's CMMS and SAP-PM. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair defective parts on high-speed packaging lines while interpreting technical drawings and schematics. Safely operate material handling equipment including forklifts and man lifts, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to solve operational challenges. Strictly comply with safety protocols such as LOTO, Hot Work permits, and food safety standards including GMPs and HACCP. Maintain continuous improvement methodologies like Lean Six Sigma and TPM while supporting team skills development. Work flexible 2nd or 3rd shift schedules on-site at the Chicago Bakery plant.
Required Qualifications
- Must be available to work 2nd or 3rd shift schedules
- On-site at our Chicago Bakery plant
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- At least 2–4 years of hands-on manufacturing experience as a Maintenance Mechanic, OR the successful completion of an approved Apprenticeship/Training Program
- Ability to work well in a team-based environment with limited supervision
- Working proficiency across pumps, hydraulics, pneumatics, mechanical drives, basic machining, hand tools, welding, and foundational electrical systems
- Ability to problem solve, provide root-cause analysis, and help implement practical solutions
- Must fully comply with all facility rules and industry-standard protocols
- Knowledge of LOTO (Lockout/Tagout)
- Knowledge of Hot Work permits
- Knowledge of Confined Space entry protocols
- Knowledge of NEC standards
- Knowledge of NFPA standards
- Knowledge of GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices)
- Knowledge of HACCP
- Knowledge of QCMS
- Knowledge of general health code regulations
- Knowledge of Integrated Lean Six Sigma (IL6S) and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) methodologies
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently and maintain proper balance
- Ability to perform physical actions including climbing steps, working from ladders/lifts, and crawling over, under, or into manufacturing machinery
- Comfortable performing duties in facilities with extreme varying temperatures
Desired Qualifications
- Direct maintenance experience on high-speed packaging lines within the food processing, chemical, or pharmaceutical industries
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and file management software
- Strong soft skills with an interest in training and cross-functional knowledge transfer
- Ability to learn and apply Continuous Improvement tools (TPM, Lean, Six Sigma)
