Job Summary
Perform light maintenance repair and cleaning tasks in a safe, professional manner, taking extra precautions when working in patient or resident care areas. Utilize basic mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot conditions, read blueprints and schematics, and operate hand tools, meters, and gauges. Execute installation and maintenance of mechanical and stationary systems including boilers, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, HVAC, and bed repair. Maintain campus grounds and comply with all facility policies, codes, and specifications. May require on-call duties as needed or directed by the department.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to work all shifts and hours as scheduled
- Must comply with all corporate and facility policies and dress code
- Must understand written and verbal communications
- Good written and oral communications skills
- Works independently with minimal supervision
- Must have knowledge of federal, state, and local codes, specifications, and ordinances
- Must possess basic mechanical knowledge
- Show competence in the use of hand tools, meters, measuring devices and gauges
- Ability to work from blueprints, schematics and technical manuals
- Ability to explain conditions and situations accurately while troubleshooting
- Must take extra precautions when working in patient/resident care areas
- Specifically keep tools out of the reach of children
- Depending on location, a valid driver's license
- Depending on location, a good driving record
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Trade school or vocational school
- Minimum of two years experience in building systems
