Job Summary

Perform preventative maintenance tasks on assigned equipment and execute machine repairs based on calls or assignments. Troubleshoot support system problems using basic problem-solving skills and complete all standard work orders while submitting required paperwork. Record information in logbooks for systems history, document parts used for repairs, and ensure quality standards are met after maintenance. Maintain cleanliness of work areas, dispose of replaced components properly, and adhere to safety and health regulations. Promote a safe work environment and maintain compliance with S.Q.F. Certification. This role operates on the 2nd shift from 3pm to 11:30pm at Upstate Niagara Cooperative, one of America's largest dairy cooperatives processing milk, yogurt, and other dairy products for local family farms.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience within the mechanical field
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
  • Technical training or electrical/mechanical technician degree, or verifiable comparable experience
  • Must be able to operate forklifts and pallet jacks (electric/manual)
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Ability to fill out routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively and convey information to other employees
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Must be able to stand to open files and operate office equipment or mechanical equipment
  • Must be able to walk, stand, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms above shoulder height
  • Must be able to climb or balance
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear and taste and smell
  • Must be able to occasionally sit
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds
  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Must have specific close, distance, color and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to stand to open files and operate office equipment or mechanical equipment
  • Must be able to move between departments or physical locations
  • Must be able to attend meetings of coworkers and management
  • Must be able to regularly work near moving mechanical equipment
  • Must be able to often work in high, precarious places and in outside weather conditions
  • Must be able to be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and cleaning chemicals
  • Must be able to wear Personal protective Equipment (PPE) per company policies
  • Must be able to hear when hearing protection is required

Desired Qualifications

  • Working with boilers, air compressors, air handling units and HVAC is a plus
  • Food manufacturing background is a plus
  • Experience with programmable logic controller, instruments and controls is preferred
  • Industrial Electric certification
  • PLC Programming certification
  • Instrumentation Control Technician certification
