Job Summary
Repair and maintain plant equipment including electric and gas welding, hydraulics, rigging, pipe fitting, pumps, and power transmissions. Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures, then dismantle, assemble, align, and install machinery such as conveyors, crushers, and ball mills. Construct foundations, operate lathes or milling machines to grind parts, and select appropriate cables and rigging for hoisting loads. Lubricate machinery, fasten components, and direct workers engaged in hoisting as needed. Work all shifts with a minimum of supervision, performing duties ranging from skilled laborer to general laborer. This position requires working at heights and handling objects up to 100 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- minimum of four years as a millwright
- Must have a minimum set of hand tools as specified by the Company
- Must be able to read and understand blueprints and equipment instructions
- Must be able to weld with enough proficiency to pass a Company welding test in both electrical arc and oxygen/acetylene welding
- Must be able to determine what type of rod to use on different types of steel and cast iron
- Must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of safety in the maintenance field
- Must be capable of working with a minimum of supervision
- Must be able to work all shifts

- Millwrights must be physically able to: Coordinate eye-hand movements
- Millwrights must be physically able to: Use hands and fingers fully; reach for, manipulate, and feel objects; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
- Millwrights must be physically able to: Climb and maintain body balance on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures; and see and hear well (either naturally or with correction)
- Millwrights must be physically able to: Lift and carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds
- Millwrights must be physically able to: Stoop, lay, bend or squat for long periods of time
