Job Summary
Maintenance Mechanic responsibilities include troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance of building systems and equipment to ensure operations run smoothly. Works with electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, and plumbing systems (including chillers, boilers, and fire protection), installs/repairs motors, pumps, valves, and sanitary fixtures, and performs light construction tasks such as carpentry and welding. Maintains records, assists in safety and accident prevention, and may respond to disasters or after-hours calls. Requires use of diagnostic tools, ability to work around loud noises and electrical equipment, and availability for on-call/off-hours. Must have valid Florida driver’s license and complete pre-employment screenings. Located at Clyde E. Lassen State Veterans’ Nursing Home, Saint Augustine, FL. Veterans’ Preference may apply.”,
Required Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience in the maintenance and repair of buildings, plumbing, and mechanical equipment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Must be available to be on call and after hours for callbacks or shift work at night, at weekends, and state holidays when necessary.
- Must have a valid Florida Driver's License.
- Must successfully complete our pre-employment screening to include, but not limited to, drug tests and finger printing.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with a long-term care or hospital environment with a geriatric population
- Experience with Plumbing, HVAC, and Electrical equipment
- Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- High school diploma or GED
- Possess a valid Florida Driver's License
