Maintenance Manager - Plastics Manufacturing

Job Summary

Lead all maintenance activities including repairs, preventive maintenance, equipment installations, and capital projects to maximize equipment uptime and reliability. Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs while prioritizing work based on safety, quality, production needs, and business impact. Manage maintenance and capital budgets, track expenditures, and coordinate contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure projects are completed safely and within budget. Champion a strong safety culture focused on zero workplace injuries and lead continuous improvement initiatives such as 5S and waste reduction. Recruit, coach, and mentor maintenance team members while supporting succession planning. Maintain accurate records, equipment documentation, and compliance-related documentation. Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Plant Leadership to improve operational efficiency.

Required Qualifications

  • College diploma or university degree
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven success leading maintenance teams and delivering operational performance improvements
  • Experience managing capital projects, maintenance budgets, and contractor relationships
  • Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements in manufacturing environments
  • Industrial electrical systems and controls
  • PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • Motors, drives, and process instrumentation
  • Hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Occasional lifting of up to 35 lbs

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience working within ISO 9001 and/or ISO 14001 environments
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience
  • Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng.)
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives and reliability programs
