Job Summary
Maintenance Manager to lead and develop maintenance employees and contractors in a manufacturing facility in Birmingham, AL. Responsibilities include managing preventive/predictive maintenance programs, driving reliability and continuous improvement, overseeing maintenance planning and budgets, leading CAPEX projects, coordinating OEM vendors and outages, training teams in electrical troubleshooting, ensuring safety and environmental compliance, and utilizing SAP/ERP systems for reporting. Requires 5+ years of maintenance leadership, strong analytical/problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple projects, and excellent communication and collaboration. Preferred engineering or technical degree; experience in paper/packaging/industrial manufacturing and reliability certifications are a plus. --- The role reports to Plant Manager and focuses on achieving equipment availability targets, reliability program implementation, OHS targets, and operational excellence within the unit.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience leading maintenance teams and contractors
- Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement practices
- Proven leadership and team development skills
- Experience managing budgets, projects, and maintenance priorities
- Experience in SAP/ERP Systems and Microsoft Office
- Proficient with PLCs, motor drives, pneumatics, and electrical troubleshooting
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Preferred: Engineering degree or technical degree
- Experience in paper, packaging, converting, or industrial manufacturing
- Project management experience
- Reliability certifications such as CMRP, CRL, MLT, MLA, or IR/UT certifications
- Experience with AutoCAD
